An Ergodic Control Problem for Many-server Multi-class Queuing Systems with Help

چکیده
A M/M/N +M queuing network is considered with d independent customer classes and d server pools in Halfin-Whitt regime. Class i customers have priority for service in pool i for i = 1, . . . , d, and may access other pool if the pool has an idle server. We formulate an ergodic control problem where the running cost is given by a non-negative convex function with polynomial growth. We show that the limiting controlled diffusion is governed by a control set that depends on the state. We provide a complete analysis for the limiting ergodic control problem and establish asymptotic convergence of the value functions for the queuing model.

متن کاملBi-objective optimization of multi-server intermodal hub-location-allocation problem in congested systems: modeling and solution
A new multi-objective intermodal hub-location-allocation problem is modeled in this paper in which both the origin and the destination hub facilities are modeled as an M/M/m queuing system. The problem is being formulated as a constrained bi-objective optimization model to minimize the total costs as well as minimizing the total system time. A small-size problem is solved on the GAMS software t...
متن کاملApplication of queuing theory in production-inventory optimization
This paper presents a mathematical model for an inventory control system in which customers’ demands and suppliers’ service time are considered as stochastic parameters. The proposed problem is solved through queuing theory for a single item. In this case, transitional probabilities are calculated in steady state. Afterward, the model is extended to the case of multi-item inventory systems. The...
متن کاملErgodic Diffusion Control of Multiclass Multi-Pool Networks in the Halfin-Whitt Regime
We consider Markovian multiclass multi-pool networks with heterogeneous server pools, each consisting of many statistically identical parallel servers, where the bipartite graph of customer classes and server pools forms a tree (acyclic). Customers form their own queue and are served in the FCFS discipline, and can abandon while waiting in queue. Service rates are both class and pool dependent....
متن کاملA heuristic method for consumable resource allocation in multi-class dynamic PERT networks
This investigation presents a heuristic method for consumable resource allocation problem in multi-class dynamic Project Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) networks, where new projects from different classes (types) arrive to system according to independent Poisson processes with different arrival rates. Each activity of any project is operated at a devoted service station located in a n...
